Imagine clouds drifting past your window, reshaping the view every few minutes. Add the scent of pine in the air, the hush of forest walks, and even a glimpse of the mighty Kanchenjunga on clear mornings. This offbeat destination is ideal for those seeking a peaceful, nature-driven getaway.
The homestays offer a variety of fun-filled activities including momo-making sessions, hiking, organic meals, cultural exchange, and bonfires under the stars.
Guests can unwind in Yakten with eight community-run homestays operated by Limbu and Bhutia families where travellers share a slice of everyday village life. The homestays and villagers are a true testament to hospitality in Yakten.

Day 1

- Warm welcome at the village homes + check-in + kits distribution.
- First shared meal with authentic local food across different village kitchens.

- Secret Santa allotment: each person is quietly assigned their Santa, setting the tone for a week of hidden kindness and thoughtful observation.
- Intention-setting session with small pods, designing “A vision portrait”
- Evening: Slow group dinner and fireside circle to ease into the space.

Builders’ Lab | Training, Deep Work & Mentorship
Day 2
Activities
- Morning hike through forest trails or guided yoga, followed by hearty local breakfast.
- Deep Work & Dialogue block with local entrepreneurs
- Hands-on mentoring with on-site mentors and peers to refine your roadmap, unblock challenges, and spot new opportunities.
- Cultural lunch hour spread across 8 village kitchens, continuing conversations about projects and possibilities.

- Cozy dinner and record keeping to capture insights and next steps.

Day 3
Activities
- Slow morning with forest walk to unlock presence and imagination.
- Authentic Local breakfast
- Step into integrative forest bathing to open your senses, quiet the mind, and arrive fully in the present.
- Pick up a stone or a brush and move into a Thangka and stone painting session, using sacred art traditions and natural elements as a canvas for personal expression and inner reflection
- Long siesta window: time to wander, write, or deepen reflections that emerged in the morning.
- Close the evening in a sharing circle, offering stories in a warm, non-judgmental space followed by dinner.

Roots & Rhythms | Cultural Immersion in Yakten
Day 4
Activities
- Walk through the village in the morning, stepping into homes, fields, and everyday spaces that hold the village's rhythm.
- Sit down for breakfast with host families, listening to their journeys, aspirations, and the realities of rural life.
- Spend the day with local entrepreneurs, visiting their workspaces and hearing about their businesses, challenges, and dreams, followed by hearty lunch
- Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on experience of a traditional momo-making session, hosted by locals, shaping, steaming, and sharing them as a family.
- Gather around a bonfire in the evening with music, barbeque, and storytelling, weaving urban and rural worlds together.

Building the Blueprint | Final Preparations & Problem Solving

- Work in teams to brainstorm solutions, stress-test ideas, and shape reporting frameworks that can turn insight into real, actionable impact.
- Break for a shared lunch across village kitchens, letting conversations spark new angles and fill in the gaps.
- Return to the circle in the afternoon for a final round of refinements, peer reviews, and mentor-guided polish on each team's work.
- Close the evening with a warm group dinner and a preview of tomorrow's landmark moment, building anticipation and collective pride in the work done.

Day 7

- Welcome a landmark morning as the village of Yakten opens its doors to a very special guest- Sri Indra Hang Subba, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha for a day of real conversations, emerging opportunities, and community-led showcases.
- Watch with pride as local entrepreneurs, shaped by days of mentorship, guided sessions, and the cohort's collective wisdom, step forward to share their business journeys, innovations, and learnings in their own words.
- Move through rich interactions exploring emerging business opportunities, the future of rural entrepreneurship, and how locally rooted enterprises can scale with integrity and purpose.
- Witness Shri Subba commend the entrepreneurs for building sustainable, locally rooted enterprises aligned with the Hon'ble Chief Minister's vision of "One Family, One Entrepreneur."
- Close with a celebratory shared meal, dance and live band performance, reflecting on what it means to have built something real together.
How you’ll feel: Moved, proud, and deeply aware of the ripple this week has set in motion.

Taking the Mountains Home | Reflection & Departure
Day 8
Activities
- Step out one last time for a silent village walk to say goodbye to Yakten.
- Gather for a closing breakfast, sharing last conversations and the words you've been saving.
- The Santas finally reveal themselves — leaving behind handwritten notes, acts of kindness, and heartfelt gifts for the people who quietly held space for them all week.
- Move through a closing ritual and a surprise farewell moment, exchanging contacts, promises, and future collaboration ideas.
- Pack up, hug your hosts goodbye, take your group photos, and head to Siliguri/Bagdogra.
How you’ll feel: Grounded, grateful, and softly transformed.
What you’ll gain: A renewed direction, a trusted circle of peers and mentors, and practices to keep this journey alive back home.

This is nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, - expect an earthy, off-the-grid experience. Be mindful of your surroundings and wildlife (no wild animals, just birdsong and biodiversity).

Weather & Terrain
The region can be misty, wet, or uneven. Watch your step on slopes or rocky paths, and carry a torch for early morning or evening walks.

Always remain with your group during walks, treks, or off-road rides. Avoid venturing into forested or farm areas alone.
